Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders
Maadhyam Youth Forum
Maadhyam Youth Forum equips young people with the skills of dialogue, negotiation, mediation and collaborative problem-solving, fostering a culture where conflicts are resolved through understanding rather than confrontation.
The Youth Forum is Maadhyam’s dedicated initiative to engage students and young professionals through experiential learning programmes that develop communication, emotional intelligence, leadership and conflict resolution skills.
By partnering with educational institutions, the Forum prepares youth to become responsible leaders who contribute to more inclusive and harmonious communities.
It is this understanding that lies at the heart of Maadhyam Youth Forum; another facet of education.
Maadhyam’s Youth Forum seeks to nurture a generation that is better equipped to engage with differences through dialogue rather than discord. Guided by Maadhyam’s vision of educating and promoting amicable dispute resolution, the forum equips young people with the skills of active listening, communication, empathy, negotiation and collaborative problem-solving. Peer mediation is viewed not as an extracurricular activity, but as an essential life skill that prepares young people to build healthier relationships, stronger institutions and more compassionate communities.

Featured Initiatives
Be Real: The Art and Science of Human Connection
One of the Forum's flagship initiatives is Be Real: The Art and Science of Human Connection, a first-of-its-kind, two-day experiential program that brought together over 150 students from colleges across Delhi University. Through interactive activities, role plays, guided reflection and group discussions, participants explored self-awareness, perception, empathy and the importance of meaningful human connection in an age increasingly shaped by social media and external validation. Sessions encourage students to understand different perspectives, listen actively, strengthen interpersonal relationships and understand how empathy and effective communication can transform conflict into opportunities for dialogue and growth. The valedictory session by Dr. Kiran Bedi (former Governor of Pondicherry) reinforced these ideas, highlighting awareness, emotional intelligence and mindful living as essential qualities of responsible leadership.
Peer Mediation Clubs
The program inspired educational institutions to explore the creation of Peer Mediation Clubs, extending the conversations beyond the workshop and into campus life. Building on this initiative, the Maadhyam Youth Forum faculty continues to conduct structured sessions on communication skills, active listening, negotiation, mediation, emotional intelligence and conflict resolution, enabling students to translate these principles into everyday practice.
Academic Engagement
Working with colleges and universities throughout the year, the forum conducts experiential learning programs led by a team of multidisciplinary trainers, comprising senior educators, trained mediators, counsellors and academicians.
Community Participation
Maadhyam Youth Forum continues to conduct workshops and learning programs across colleges and universities throughout the year, contributing to a growing recognition that dialogue and conflict resolution are indispensable life skills for young people.
Most recently, members of the Maadhyam Youth Forum contributed to the Round Table Discussion, Varta: Dialogues on NEP 2020, organized during Shiksha Samvaad 2026 at SRM University, Delhi-NCR. The deliberations reinforced the belief that the true purpose of education lies not merely in acquiring knowledge and university degrees, but in experiencing and internalizing life skills through meaningful engagement. Against this backdrop, the Forum emphasized the importance of introducing negotiation, dialogue and mediation as essential life skills within educational institutions, sowing the seeds for a culture where young people learn not only what to think, but how to listen, understand differences and resolve conflicts constructively.
At Maadhyam Youth Forum, the belief remains simple yet profound: while knowledge may shape careers, the ability to engage with differences through dialogue has the power to shape lives, institutions and society itself!
