Introduction To The Trust
Maadhyam International is among India’s pioneering institutions in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and it has long held that justice must be accessible, humane and capable of real change. Believing that resolution matters most where it touches the everyday lives of people, Maadhyam gave this conviction an institutional form through the Kewal Memorial Foundation (KMF), a duly registered philanthropic foundation that serves as its dedicated arm for charitable outreach in the fields of education, healthcare and community welfare.
The Foundation was constituted in memory of Late Advocate Kewal Singh Ahuja, one of the founders of Maadhyam and honours a life defined by integrity, service and an unwavering commitment to justice. KMF carries his legacy forward by turning those ideals into action for the individuals and communities who need support the most.
Its journey began in the crucible of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time that tested not only institutions but humanity itself. When life saving medical resources grew critically scarce, KMF came forward to help those in need, particularly within the legal fraternity, by facilitating access to oxygen cylinders and concentrators. In a period of great urgency and uncertainty, the Maadhyam Trust proved a dependable pillar of support and that work continues today through the preservation of emergency medical resources for future need. What began as a response to crisis has since grown into a sustained and expanding commitment to empowerment, rooted in education, healthcare and inclusive community outreach.
Objectives & Initiatives
Advancing Education Through Commitment and Care
KMF has consistently supported students from underprivileged and marginalised backgrounds, so that financial hardship does not stand between a young person and their ambition. Its work reaches from school education to the country's premier legal institutions and over the years the Foundation has helped several girl students realise their aspirations. It has sponsored the education of multiple girl students, reaffirming its commitment to equitable access and empowerment. It has provided sustained academic and financial assistance to law students and college students from economically constrained backgrounds, nurturing the next generation of professionals across disciplines. It has also supported a Class XII student of Manava Bharti India International School, New Delhi, enabling uninterrupted schooling at a critical stage.
Maadhyam Trust has extended and continues to extend, its support to a range of academic, professional and humanitarian causes in 2026. In the sphere of student advocacy and mooting, the Trust has sponsored National Law University, Jodhpur for the Jean-Pictet Moot Court Competition, National Law University, Delhi for the Cross Examination Moot Court Competition, Chanakya National Law University for the Consumer Dispute Resolution Competition at Vienna and Delhi Metropolitan Education for its Law Fest 2026. The Trust has further supported the India Chapter of the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA) for its seminar on Artificial Intelligence. It has borne the educational fees of Ms. Suhani Kalouni and has borne the fees of young lawyers and students for the ADR Learning Series organised by Maadhyam. Beyond the professional domain, the Trust has come forward in aid of Ms. Rida Fatima and Ms. Moumita Nandy towards their cancer treatment, reaffirming its commitment to compassion alongside the advancement of education.
Healthcare and Community Outreach
Reaching beyond education, KMF has undertaken structured community healthcare work. The Foundation organised its first Annual Mega Health Camp on 12 January 2025, benefiting approximately 300 individuals from urban village clusters in and around New Friends Colony, New Delhi. The camp was a significant step towards meeting basic healthcare needs in underserved communities and reflects the Foundation's belief in accessible, preventive care. Working closely with grassroots organisations to widen its reach, KMF joined hands with the Nishkam Sikh Welfare Council, Tilak Vihar, New Delhi, to contribute towards the education of children from disadvantaged communities. During an academic workshop at Miranda House, University of Delhi, the Foundation identified two orphaned students in need of immediate support and instituted a monthly assistance of Rs. 10,000 each for a year, so that their education might continue with dignity.
Dignity, Inclusion and Care
The Foundation's work also affirms dignity and inclusion. In one such initiative, it provided an electric wheelchair to a differently abled advocate practising at the Delhi High Court, restoring not only mobility but independence and professional ease. KMF continues to look ahead to broader outreach through health camps, awareness initiatives and support to orphanages and vulnerable communities.
